Sample Of The Week: Eddie Floyd "Check Me Out"

Hello Blog Heads! It's about that time for Sample Of The Week! Our sample of the week is Eddie Floyd "Check Me Out" from his 1973 album "Lay Your Head Down". As you can see, the album cover is a picture of Eddie with his lopsided afro and his Minister Farrakhan bowtie. LOL. It seem like Eddie was in a hurry and didn't have time to comb his hair to shoot the album cover. I guess it's good the way it is but anywho, this mellow, soulful sample was used by artists Missy Elliot, The Firm (Nas, Foxy Brown, Cormega and AZ) and Afu-Ra. These artists create their own moods that fits in perfectly with their words.

Here is Eddie Floyd "Check Me Out"

Artists that sampled Eddie Floyd "Check Me Out":

Missy Elliot "Why You Hurt Me"

The Firm "La Familia"

Afu-Ra ft. Kymani Marley - Equality (produced by DJ Premier)
